

John is the Chief Operating Officer for the Division of Clinical Pathology at the Institute of Medical and Veterinary Science in Adelaide, South Australia. He is a generally trained medical scientist with a Masters Degree and post-graduate Fellowship in microbiology. He also holds a Graduate Certificate in Management from Deakin University. John spent over 12 years working in a regional pathology laboratory and has managed a 24-hour emergency laboratory service within the Royal Adelaide Hospital. His experiences also include the management of a statewide regional laboratory and specimen collection network. In his current position, John manages a laboratory that performs over 1 million diagnostic tests each year, a central specimen reception area, a medical specimen vehicle courier service and a customer service centre.

Belinda Williamson has extensive experience in strategic planning, business development and management. Belinda has a thorough understanding of the medical device industry having worked for a number of leading global high technology corporations in Australia and New Zealand, including Guidant Australia, Boston Scientific, Bard Australia and Zimmer Australia. Belinda has worked on creating strategies for taking new technologies to local and international markets and is accustomed to developing, trialing and selling complex business solutions in highly regulated sectors. Belinda has a proven track record of achieving sales and market share targets as well as building and maintaining strong customer relationships. Since joining the LabTech Systems’ team in July 2005, Belinda has driven numerous market research activities to obtain an understanding of the opportunities for MicroStreak®.

Duane has a Masters of Science in the field of Biochemistry & Cell Biology from the University of Adelaide, South Australia. In 2004, Duane completed a Master of Business Administration (Technology Management) through Melbourne’s La Trobe University in association with APESMA. Duane has worked as a Project Manager with a biotechnology start-up, which provides revolutionary stem cell therapy to horses as well as other veterinary treatments. Duane was responsible for developing and implementing various strategies to deliver the organisation’s various technologies to market and overseeing the processes associated with manufacturing and distribution. Duane has also worked for the Scottish Widows Bank in Edinburgh, Scotland and the University of Adelaide as a tutor in medicine and molecular biology.

Debbie Nutt has completed a Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in Accounting and Finance, at Flinders University, South Australia. Over the course of her studies, Debbie received the Chancellor’s Letter of Commendation for three consecutive years and was the recipient of the Barker Wealth Management Prize and the CPA Australia Prize for best graduating student in the Bachelor of Commerce. Prior to joining LabTech Systems Ltd, Debbie was an Analyst with Deloitte’s Growth Solutions department, a role which encompassed all aspects of accounting for small business such as taxation and associated statutory requirements.

KD&A
KD&A is an Australian company that was created in early 2004 by the Managing Director, Kea Dent. The company specialises in regulatory and business services for medical devices and in vitro diagnostic organisations. Services provided include regulatory advice, technical documentation and assistance with quality system certification and export. Kea holds a Masters in Business Administration and her accomplishments include 2002 South Australian Telstra Business Woman of the Year (private sector category) and selection as a State Finalist in the Entrepreneur of the Year Awards in 2003. Kea became involved in the medical device industry through starting up and running a successful medical device manufacturing business, Dentsleeve Pty Ltd. During this time, Kea gained valuable experience in the regulatory requirements and exporting procedures.

Lachlan is a PhD Research Student and Project Engineer at the Institute of Medical and Veterinary Science in Adelaide, South Australia. He received his degree in Mechatronic Engineering with first class honours from the University of Adelaide in 2001 and took up the position of Project Engineer at the IMVS. Lachlan has worked on a number of biomedical engineering projects, both technical and policy related. In 2004 he joined the Bone and Joint Research group at the IMVS and commenced PhD studies through the Department of Pathology at the University of Adelaide. He is a Graduate Member of the Institution of Engineers Australia and a Member of the Institution of Electrical Engineers.
