John Glasson Scientific Director Qualifications Masters in Applied Science (University of South Australia)
Experience John Glasson graduated from the University of South Australia in 1971. He worked for 12 years in a multi-disciplinary regional laboratory before transferring to the city of Adelaide, where he managed a 24-hour emergency clinical pathology service within the 1,000-bed Royal Adelaide Hospital for 8 years. During this period he gained a Master of Science degree from the University of South Australia and a post-graduate fellowship in microbiology from the Australian Institute of Medical Scientists.
John was appointed to a senior lecturer position at the University of South Australia in 1985 and has a continuing involvement with the biomedical science faculty. In 1992 John became the regional laboratory manager for the Institute of Medical and Veterinary Science (IMVS). John held the position of Chief Scientist within the Division of Clinical Pathology at the IMVS for 7 years. The laboratory provides a core service for the IMVS network and handles up to 9000 clinical samples each day.
Since 1985 John has been involved in the review of laboratory services within the IMVS and for private management consultants. He has visited some of the largest automated laboratories in Asia and USA and overseen the re-engineering of processes at several laboratories using workflow analysis tools such as Lean and Six Sigma. John has a significant interest in automation and was responsible for the introduction of several automated specimen-handling systems within the IMVS. John’s interests in process re-engineering, automation and microbiology led to the development of a device for inoculating and spreading samples onto agar plates.
John has been involved since 2004 in the development of the streaking technology, known as MicroStreak, and its incorporation into an automated robotic system for streaking and handling agar plates. |

Graeme Bullock Technology Development Manager LBT Innovations
Graeme started his career in Defence research, working on joint Australian–US programs developing laser weapons. He then joined the product engineering firm Invetech and headed technology commercialisation projects for clients globally, as Principal Consultant in the Applied Sciences and Innovation Groups for 15 years.
Graeme’s experience covers product development and sales and marketing of new high technology products. His technical expertise includes optics, lasers, infra‐red, x‐ray and imaging technology, electro‐mechanical systems engineering, microfluidics and point‐of‐care medical diagnostics. He has worked as Engineering Director in several high-tech startups and has managed the intellectual property portfolio for the University of Melbourne.
More recently, Graeme has managed an automotive research consortium and has provided commercialisation advice to SMEs with the Australian Institute for Commercialisation. Graeme is a Member of the Institute of Engineers and has authored four patents in the fields of optics and microfluidics.

Hugo LeMessurier Managing Director LeMessurier Solutions Pty Ltd
Hugo LeMessurier has 17 years experience in establishing, managing and advising companies in biotechnology, diagnostics, medical device, ICT, food, industrial and service industries. His career began at Genzyme Corporation where he held senior sales and marketing roles over a period of 8 years in the Diagnostics division in both the EU and USA. Following his return to Australia he founded a number of start up businesses and has held CEO roles in food, construction and diagnostics businesses as well as leading an early stage biotechnology company to listing.

As a strategic business consultant with LeMessurier Solutions he has provided corporate advisory, training, investment and planning advice to organisations in a wide range of industries through Commonwealth grant programs and assisted in the raising of over $10 million in early stage venture equity.
Hugo is a director of Cryptogen, Synergy Trading and Moducom and is a member of The University of Adelaide Commercial Accelerator Scheme and Commercial Opportunity Panel, the Department of Economic Trade and Development Cleantech Grant panel, AusBiotech, AICD. He is also an investor in early stage Australian technology companies and is an active member of a number of Angel investment groups.
